August 1st 2024 – US-based indie developer ArcaneWorks is excited to announce the launch of its debut title, The Puzzle Maker: Cebba’s Odyssey, on Steam on September 24th, with a mobile release in 2025.

The Puzzle Maker: Cebba’s Odyssey is a cozy, retro-stylish fantasy puzzle game inspired by the deep strategy of Advance Wars and Shining Force. Marshal your team of heroes and spellcasters against monsters and hazards to complete over 200 challenges, calling on their unique skills to create exciting combos in your quest to become the next Puzzle Maker.

For years, the mysterious Puzzle Maker, Cebba, has sought a worthy successor to the title. Yet each of her protégés have fallen to her increasingly devious trials. You are the last – and most promising – but in your quest to inherit the coveted title of Puzzle Maker, you’ll need to confront Cebba’s past and unveil her true motivation.

Puzzles take place over a colorful 14-by-14 grid, populated by terrible monsters and fantastical environmental hazards, from orcs and oozes to strange portals and metallic fauna, all in a delightfully nostalgic pixel art style. You’ll lead your small band of heroes, fey creatures, and spellcasters to defeat each enemy and progress to the next of Cebba’s fiendish trials. However, as units can only be moved once per level – think single-turn Into the Breach stages – it will take all your cunning to use each efficiently and complete each challenge.

The Puzzle Maker: Cebba’s Odyssey will win over casual puzzle fans and dedicated enthusiasts, driven by a heartfelt story exploring Cebba’s reign, her history, and why she seeks to pass on the prized mantle of Puzzle Maker. The Puzzle Maker’s gentle pace, no-failstate gameplay, and easy rewind mechanic enable you to experiment and explore intricate solutions without pressure.

But while the journey starts with gentle steps, in Cebba’s zeal to find a true successor, The Puzzle Maker’s 200-plus puzzles ramp up the challenge and tax the ingenuity of even the most committed puzzle game fans to their limit. On top of that, the game’s creator mode will allow true Puzzle Makers to flex their creativity and concoct the most imaginative levels to share with friends and online.
