LONDON, UK - September 10, 2024 – Video Games-specialist book publisher, Bitmap Books, is thrilled to announce that the latest addition to its impressive collection of gaming books, A Tale of Two Halves: The History of Football Video Games, will arrive on October 17 for £34.99 (or regional equivalent) for the Standard Edition and £49.99 (or regional equivalent) for the limited run Captain’s Edition. Aptly split into two halves, the book celebrates four decades of football games across 2D classics and modern 3D simulations. Authored by football games historian Richard Moss, A Tale of Two Halves dives into the evolution of the genre’s rich history from 1980 to 2010, featuring over 400 games, hundreds of screenshots, bespoke illustrations, and interviews with pioneering developers.

Fans of iconic franchises like Sensible Soccer, FIFA, Pro Evolution Soccer, and Football Manager can expect to find a treasure trove of trivia, history, and analysis in Bitmap Books latest creation. The beautiful game has had some brilliant (and plenty of awful) video game renditions over the years. A Tale of Two Halves pays tribute to them all.

A Tale of Two Halves also includes interviews with notable developers, including: Andrew Prime (Ultimate Soccer Manager), Marc Aubanel (FIFA International Soccer) and Kevin Toms (Football Manager), to name a few. Available in Standard and Captain’s Editions, each features Bitmap Books' renowned high-quality finish, stunning visuals as well as unique footy-themed elements, like boot lace bookmarks and a fabric armband, which holds the book securely in its slipcase while celebrating the effort of football’s captaining greats.
