Dallas, Texas and Montreal, Quebec (December 8, 2004) -- Bluestreak Network, Inc. and Sarbakan today announced their agreement to expand Bluestreak's digital Cable TV games platform with new, cable-exclusive games and animated features from Sarbakan.
The Companies are producing new games for the Bluestreak DEM platform. DEM allows the rendering of superior interactive graphics and animation over digital cable TV settop boxes. The new games will be part of Bluestreak's core digital TV games offering, which has been shown to lower subscriber turnover. DEM games are played using the standard TV remote control. Initial titles will include NIGHTS OF MR. SNOOZELBERG, HOUDINI: MASTER OF THE EXTRAORDINARY, and CROC'O'SNACK, and will be exclusively available over cable to customers of the Bluestreak DEM platform.
"It's a new day for interactive TV," said John Reed, CEO of Bluestreak Network. "Digital cable networks now deliver great on-demand entertainment-like games - and Bluestreak is proud to bring new products and excitement to the market. We're particularly pleased to associate with Sarbakan, a proficient game developer who is already been recognized by industry players such as Warner Brothers, The Cartoon Network and Sony, among others."
Bluestreak Network's digital cable games platform is uniquely compatible with legacy as well as next-generation settop boxes. DEM -- Digital Entertainment Middleware -- is the result of a multi-year development effort to bring new capabilities to digital cable. Bluestreak has entered licensing agreements to bring DEM technology into millions of North American households. Bluestreak's DEM recently launched in the United States, while Videotron has experienced continued success with DEM in Quebec.
"The addition of iTV content production services is a golden opportunity for all of Sarbakan's clients," explains Guy Boucher, Sarbakan's CEO. "The iTV market is in full bloom and many of the entertainment industry's main players are now preparing for this new medium. iTV is a natural fit for us and, by delivering to Bluestreak's DEM platform, we will secure a worthwhile position in this emerging market."
