Chiba, Japan, September 4, 2024 — INTI CREATES has released a demo for their new card-battling RPG, Card-en-Ciel, on Steam, with a Switch version to follow tomorrow, September 5th. This extensive free look at the game will give players a chance to get familiar with the gameplay and a head start to carry their data over to the October 24th release.

Alongside this announcement, INTI CREATES has released a trailer revealing the in-universe game, “President Ex Machina.” Featured in the fictional is a new vocal song performed by the 55th President of the Star States, Edgar Barron, played by Karen Calanni.

What is “Card-en-Ciel”?

Card-en-Ciel is a card-battling, roguelite JRPG featuring over 300 unique cards and 50 vocal songs.

Players take control of Neon, a private detective who specializes in solving cases that take place in the virtual net. He must restore order to an in-development game that is under attack by countless characters leaking from other games across history.

Dive into virtual dungeons where each victory earn new cards to add to your deck, strengthen those cards, then take on the powerful protagonists of the invading games. Each card brings a new synergy to your deck, creating combos with each other and the special Muse cards, whose songs add new passive abilities that last for the entire battle.

Demo available now featuring 2 full dungeons!

Card-en-Ciel’s extensive free demo is available now on Steam, with a Switch version coming to the Nintendo eShop tomorrow, September 5th. Experience the deck-building, story, battles, and meta progression of the early dungeons just as they appear in the full release!

Freely roam around dungeons and battle the enemies you choose. You can take as much or as little time as you need to recruit new cards to your deck before you take on the boss at the end! Clear the dungeons to earn Decode Tokens that unlock permanent upgrades and new difficulty levels to challenge.

The demo features nearly 100 of the over 300 cards from the final game, and 2 full replayable dungeons to unlock after you finish the tutorial. Each dungeon is its own roguelite experience where you’ll find different cards to build your deck on the way to the boss. But they don’t just disappear when you’re done, you’ll add them to your collection to summon into battle on later runs as Wild Cards!

Your demo save will transfer to the full game when it releases October 24th, including your permanent upgrades and the cards you’ve collected!

Introducing the (*fictional) game world of “President Ex Machina”!

Card-en-Ciel features 50 vocal songs performed by the Muses in-game.

These songs are created for the fictional game universes as if they were the real theme songs, battle themes, and endings, all composed in the style and genres of the appropriate eras.

One of those (*fictional) game universes is “President Ex Machina,” a high-speed robot action game starring the 55th President of the Star States, Edgar Barron (VA: Karen Calanni), who has been transplanted into a female cyborg body. The President himself performs a background song in the (*fictional) game, “Glory to Me.” Preview the song and meet the characters of the “President Ex Machina” world in this introduction trailer!
