The Horror at Highrook is set to be supported by Among Us creators indie game fund

Monday 18th October 2024 - Indie Developer Nullpointer Games today announced that his upcoming Occult Card-Crafting Narrative RPG is being supported by indie fund Outersloth.
After the massive success of Among Us, developer InnerSloth launched its own indie game development fund, OuterSloth, in June of this year. OuterSloth is already funding seven projects, including new games by the developers of Venba, Thirsty Suitors and I Am Your Beast.
Now OuterSloth have decided to fund The Horror at Highrook, a Cosmic Horror Narrative RPG being developed by Nullpointer Games. The studio was founded by Tom Betts, a developer with over a decade of experience in the indie scene, his last game ‘Into the Pit’ being published by Humble Games in 2021.
Tom from Nullpointer said, “I’m delighted to be partnering with Outersloth. It’s been a rough few years for indies, well, for everyone in the industry really. The Horror at Highrook arose as a result of another larger project deal falling through, and it had been a passion project of mine that had been bubbling away for a few years.
Sending a build of Highrook and chatting with the OuterSloth team was a refreshing experience. It’s so reassuring to see successful indies re-investing in their own field, especially when a lot of the industry seems so unstable. Outersloth gives us hope that things might be changing for the better.”
Inspired by board-games, wikis, ghost stories and escape rooms, The Horror at Highrook puts players in charge of a team of investigators who must explore a haunted manor and uncover the fate of the family who have mysteriously disappeared. Rummage through arcane notes, piece together lore, craft solutions and guide the team as they summon occult nightmares.
The Horror at Highrook has a demo available on Steam, with a private beta planned for next month. The game is set to release in 2025.

Nullpointer Games is run by Tom Betts, designer and programmer on games such as "Sir, You are being Hunted", "The Signal from Tolva" and "Into the Pit" - He is a coder, artist and musician and holds a Phd in video games and philosophy.
After several successful years, Tom was hoping to grow the studio to tackle bigger projects, however the last 12 months or so of industry upheaval and insecurity forced him to pivot his plans. After pitching various large-scale projects Tom decided to go back to his indie roots and work on an idea that he had been dreaming about for years.
