Covyne Entertainment Announces Upcoming Dolven Demo Release and Event Showcases

Melbourne, Australia - September 6, 2024 | Covyne Entertainment is excited to announce that Dolven, our highly anticipated tactical card game, is heading to major gaming events! This October, the studio will be showcasing the demo at PAX Aus Melbourne and Gamescom Singapore, giving fans an exclusive first-hand experience of the immersive world of Dolven. The full demo will also be available to the public on Steam on October 30, 2024.
 

After an intensive closed beta phase, the development team has been hard at work polishing the game’s aesthetics, expanding the card library, fixing bugs, and refining playability. The feedback from our closed beta has been invaluable, and we’re thrilled to have received overwhelmingly positive reactions from several streamers who have already played the game live. This exposure has led to a spike in Steam wishlists, reflecting growing excitement for Dolven.
 

Looking ahead, the team is on track to release the full version of Dolven in mid-2025. Covyne Entertainment can’t wait to bring this unique blend of strategic card play and immersive combat to a global audience.

About Dolven
 

Dolven is a fantasy turn-based strategy RPG with a deep card-based battle system. Following the events of The Necromancer’s scourge upon the northern townsfolk, guide a band of mercenaries through the Decaying Isles in order to rid the land of evil. Use the Pillars to create a variety of combos to earn mana and gain advantage over the recent evil plaguing the land of Dolven.

Card battles include hand-to-hand combat, where the cards provide characters with additional skills. The Pillars allow you to create various hand combinations that range from matching cards and suits, playing a pivotal role in your quest to accumulate more Mana, Gear, Cards, Skills and even exerting influence over the game's environment. Strategic planning is of utmost importance.

Gather Your Party
 

Each character belongs to one of six classes: Archer, Cleric, Guardian, Mage, Rogue, or Warrior. With characters split into three archetypes - Strength, Intellect, and Agility - each class offers a unique set of skills and abilities to master.

Each decision on the battlefield will have its consequences. Playing to each characters’ strengths and weaknesses is crucial to victory, and one wrong move can have dire repercussions.

Delve Into the Dungeons
 

The band of mercenaries, having grown weary of being contracted for financial gain, have taken an Oath of Righteousness to rid the world of evil and preserve life. With regret weighing heavy on their consciences after years of selling their services to the highest bidder, the band ventures to the land of Dolven. It is here where they learn of people beginning to disappear and sightings of foul creatures of the undead have begun occupying the nearby ruins.

With fear wracking the minds of the townsfolk, a pious priest offers to protect the frightened people. And yet, even with his holy powers, the disappearances continue to occur. Tensions rise when the town blacksmith’s daughter is abducted by a werewolf. And thus, the band of mercenaries delve into the dungeons of the Decaying Isle to save the girl and determine the cause of the recent terrors.

Play Your Hand
 

Plan your moves to create hand combinations on the Pillars to gain mana and win valuable rewards. Each of the three card suits has values from 1 to 13. Arrange cards on your Pillars to form hands. Customize your deck as you battle your way through the maze of dungeons. Make smart card choices, considering card classes and character types.

As you progress, you’ll collect gear that can be used to affect the cards in your deck. Likewise, cards can also affect the gear you have equipped, allowing you to create a party that truly fits your playstyle. Use your character's skills to engage in tactical battles on a 6x4 grid against a variety of enemies, each with its own unique strengths and weaknesses.
