FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
FAIRFAX, VA - OCTOBER 13, 2004 - Mythic Entertainment, developer and publisher of the award-winning massively multiplayer online role-playing game, "Dark Age of Camelot®," is celebrating the three year anniversary of the game with fireworks and the introduction of the "Bring a Friend" Bonus program. More than 240,000 subscribers continue to enjoy life within the three Realms that make up "Dark Age of Camelot," including thousands of people who signed up on the game's first day. This week, pyrotechnics will fill the skies above Hibernia, Midgard and Albion as Mythic distributes fireworks for players to join in the celebration.
The "Bring a Friend" Bonus program recognizes the contribution made by players to the growth of the game's community over three years. Players that refer new subscribers to the game will receive a BAF Bonus; three earned bonuses earn players a one month free extension to their existing subscription. Full details of the program are available at www.darkageofcamelot.com/baf .
"The 'Bring a Friend' program is another way of rewarding our players for their commitment to our game," said Mark Jacobs, president and CEO of Mythic Entertainment. "Many of them have brought family and friends into our ever-expanding world and now when they do so, we will show our thanks by giving them a gift, free time within their favorite game."
Throughout the past three years, the game has grown from its successful launch to now include two retail and two major free expansions. "Shrouded Isles" expanded the world to include isles beyond the original Realms. "Trials of Atlantis" took players into the uncharted depths and mysteries of the lost continent. By adding houses for purchase, "Foundations" gave players an in-game home. "New Frontiers" re-invented the game's unique Realm vs. Realm combat, making it more accessible and challenging. In December 2004, Mythic will release "Catacombs," and challenge players to explore a new underground world. With each expansion including "Catacombs," the game's graphics engine and appearance has been overhauled, ensuring that "Camelot" remains state-of-the-art among the latest MMORPGs to reach the market.
About "Dark Age of Camelot"
"Dark Age of Camelot" is a next generation massively-multiplayer online role-playing game ("MMORPG"), and features state-of-the-art 3D graphics with unique Realm vs. Realm combat, multiple class and race combinations, a robust trade skill system, and the most comprehensive player Guild system in any MMORPG. The world of "Dark Age of Camelot" features three Realms at war - Midgard, Hibernia and Albion. Based on the mythologies of Viking-era Scandinavia, ancient Ireland, and Arthurian Britain, respectively, the once-peaceful Realms began to battle after the death of King Arthur. Players quest, fight monsters, form guilds and eventually gain enough power to defend their Realm from enemies.
Since its release, "Dark Age of Camelot" has received critical acclaim, including Online Game of the Year by Computer Games Magazine and Computer Gaming World, and PC Game of the Year by USA Today and MSNBC. With an industry-leading customer support program, "Dark Age of Camelot" continues to grow and expand worldwide and has proven to be an enduring success.
