AUG. 30, 2024 — Indie game developer debdev is thrilled to announce the upcoming release of Within the Cosmos, a single-player first-person sci-fi RPG set in a richly detailed universe. Set for release on October 4 2024 this game invites players to awaken in a secluded star system, where they will encounter a fractured human society on the brink of collapse amidst an emerging android threat.

Discover a World on the Brink in Within the Cosmos
The year is 2278, and humanity teeters on the edge of extinction. Players assume the role of one of 500 members of the United Earth Space Agency (UESA), who were placed in cryogenic sleep and launched aboard a starship to the remote Adallio star system, far from the war-torn Earth. Upon awakening generations later, they find a human society divided into factions, each with its own politics, philosophies, and ambitions. To make matters worse, a deadly android enemy has recently appeared, threatening the fragile peace.
Shape the Future of Humanity Through Your Choices
Players must navigate this divided world, where their choices will influence the outcome of the story. Will they unite the factions or deepen the divides? Will they find the truth behind the android threat or become another victim of it?

Character Creation: Players can fully customize their character’s appearance, attributes, and background, creating a unique protagonist to navigate the cosmos.
Deep Skill System: As players level up, they can invest in 11 different skills, ranging from intimidation to hacking, allowing for diverse playstyles and strategic gameplay.
Hacking Mechanics: Use advanced hacking abilities to manipulate the environment, gather intel, disable security, and create tactical advantages.
Neural Interface Mods (NIMs): Unlock new abilities such as Cloak and Time Dilation, providing strategic options for combat and exploration.
Factions: Engage with various factions, each with its own ideology and goals. Players can choose to ally with them, betray them, or eliminate them, shaping the world around them.
Exploration: Explore hand-crafted celestial bodies across the Adallio star system, each filled with unique environments, missions, and secrets.
Meaningful Choices: Every decision counts, with multiple ways to approach objectives, engage in dialogue, and shape the game’s ending.
Weapon Customization: Upgrade and personalise a wide variety of weapons to suit individual playstyles.

“Within the Cosmos has been a part of my life for nearly a decade,” said Debdev, the creator of Within the Cosmos. “Inspired by the ethical dilemmas of Star Trek and the immersive gameplay of titles like Deus Ex and Fallout, my vision was to create a sci-fi RPG where every choice matters. Despite financial setbacks, I’ve poured my heart into this project and am excited to finally share it with players.”
