Evercade reveals a new exclusive digital feature with 10 indie games free for Evercade VS users, becoming the physical Indie Heroes Collection 2 cartridge in November.

With the Evercade VS, Blaze Entertainment has been able to reach new heights, both with a wide selection of home console and arcade games as well as brand new features and secrets. Today, Blaze Entertainment is delighted to announce a brand new exclusive feature for Evercade VS users - Game of the Month!
Game of the Month will provide 10 great indie titles during 2022 with a new one every month. These games are a great example of great new games that have been made for older hardware. Much like the Indie Heroes we’ve previously highlighted on our Indie Heroes Collection 1 cartridge.
From April 7th, 2022, the Evercade VS will offer a brand new indie game every month via a WiFi console update. Game of the Month games will be playable throughout that entire month until the first full week of the following month. At this point, the game will change to the new game of the month once a console is updated!
A new game will be announced the day before the update meaning that there will be a new Evercade surprise every month for 2022! To access their game, Evercade VS users will find a new option on the main menu screen. A new star icon will appear where you can access the Game of the Month title.
Whilst this feature is exclusive to Evercade VS consoles, all Evercade users can enjoy these games at the end of this year when the full lineup of releases is combined to create the Indie Heroes Collection 2 cartridge.
Full news of the second Indie Heroes collection along with pre-order and release dates will be unveiled later this year.
To start off the new exclusive Game of the Month feature, we are delighted to bring another great title from Lowtek Games to Evercade - Tapeworm Disco Puzzle!
About Tapeworm Disco Puzzle
Hot off the heels of the incredibly successful Flea!, Tapeworm Disco Puzzle is a grid-based single-player puzzle game. You play as the titular tapeworm who is a nightclub owner making sure that the customers (the fleas) are having a good time. Going through the grid you will collect the musical notes and keep the party going, whilst also helping the fleas have a little red-coloured refreshment.
This title from Lowtek games is a spin-off of Flea! Which was released on Evercade in 2021 as part of the Indie Heroes Collection 1 cartridge.
More New Updates for Evercade VS Firmware v2.1
As the Evercade VS has been released in all territories, our focus has shifted from updates and fixes to providing new content and features, just like Game of the Month.
With this new update, users will be able to boot up their games in "Competition Mode", which is a new feature that will disable save states. This means players can hone and perfect their one-shot speed runs or high score chases, and communities can organise contests and competitions without fear of people using save states to achieve scores unfairly.
Players can start Competition Mode when booting the game by pressing "Y" instead of selecting Start on the game selection screen. Players will see they are in Competition mode by the Golden Pixel Evercade Trophy icon in the top left corner and will be in that mode until they exit the game.
The new "Competition Mode" works across our entire catalogue of available games including arcade collections.
In addition to this mode, even more secrets have been added to the Evercade VS. Using key combinations, two new games have been added to the console in addition to the existing secret games. A new game has also been added for a specific cartridge combination, which people can discover (no spoilers here).

All other updates will be catalogued on the Evercade Blog with a changelog on the day of release. Please note that all these updates and secrets are Evercade VS exclusive.
