Games Done Quick announces new speedrunning event for Hurricane Helene relief Oct 11-13

Today, Games Done Quick announced that it will hold Disaster Relief Done Quick in support of the humanitarian nonprofit Direct Relief to aid those who have been affected by Hurricane Helene, a life-threatening Category 4 hurricane that has left over 200 dead, millions without power, and caused significant flooding and evacuations in the US Southeast. Disaster Relief Done Quick will begin on October 11 at 6 p.m. EDT and conclude on October 13 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.

GDQ is accepting submissions for runs now until October 6, 2024 at 11:59 p.m. ET:

Disaster Relief Done Quick will be broadcast live on the Games Done Quick Twitch channel. Donations during the event will go directly to Direct Relief, a humanitarian aid organization with a mission to improve the health and lives of people affected by poverty or emergencies – without regard to politics, religion, or ability to pay. Direct Relief has already offered assistance to more than 50 safety net healthcare providers in the storm’s path and will continue assessing the needs of impacted areas and providing resources such as emergency medical supplies, hygiene kits, and transportation support.
