London. March 10th, 2022 – During the peak of development, with the devs' eyes very much glued to blue screens featuring the latest build (or brown in the case of the sandy Western town of Brimstone). It came as a very welcome honour when the devs' were informed their game had been selected for the London Games Festival Official Selection.
This involves an exclusive showcase event for upcoming games in development. With a staggering number of nearly 200 applicants for this year's selection, Whispers in the West is one of forty games to take part in the showcase. The ten day game festival features both online and in person events, with games presented via a dedicated Official Selection site and a Steam festival page – and an outdoor promotion event in central London with the aim of attracting an eclectic mix of dev teams to the capital. Hands on opportunities are also available with devs exhibiting playable demos, it’s set to be an action packed week of games.
The festival also provides the first opportunity for the devs to meet in person, for a significant portion of development during the pandemic this has been completely off the table. In light of this, Associate Game Designer Layla Tousi commented ‘It's very exciting to be able to share our game and experience what other people have been working on too! I’m really looking forward to catching up with the team after so long.’. With online working becoming the norm, Lucas Summerscales the Social Media Manager stated ‘It’s a welcome opportunity not to have to worry about the mute button for a moment.’. A phrase now very much commonplace in the digital realm.
This opportunity coincides with another exciting event the devs are announcing. To bring development to even greater heights, Team Dissonant is prepared to launch a Kickstarter campaign in the coming weeks (follow their campaign here on Kickstarter and get notified). Here, backers will have the opportunity to access a variety of exclusive rewards including discounted story scripts, murder mystery game nights with the devs and even name an in-game horse.
