Japanese-Style Action RPG Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade Launches "The Final Push" Kickstarter and Steam Demo

The indie game studio 7QUARK has announced the launch of a Kickstarter campaign for their action RPG, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade, to raise funds for the final stage of development. Simultaneously, the v1.0 demo has been released on Steam, showcasing the game's combat system.

Set in the Edo period, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is a Japanese-style action RPG featuring Roguelite mechanics. The story follows the invasion of the mortal realm by the sovereign of all demons, Nine-Tailed Fox, shattering centuries of coexistence between humans and demons.

Players take on the roles of three protagonists—Ninja Girl, Oni Emissary, and Demon Samurai—each wielding utterly distinct weapons including the Demon Blade, Dual Blades, and Bow. Battling countless fiends, they embark on a journey through cycles of life and death to restore peace.

Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade is scheduled for release in March 2025. As the game enters its final stage of development, the team has launched a 30-day Kickstarter campaign titled "The Final Push." Regarding the timing of the campaign, the developers explained on the Kickstarter page: "We’ve reached a point where we can’t push forward without additional support."

The official statement reads: “At the end of 2023, our team faced major challenges both internally and externally. To keep production going, our producer took a massive personal risk—investing his entire assets into the development budget.

Although this helped momentarily, it also depleted our reserves. As a result, we’ve been forced to postpone the release date, and several features planned for the launch version will now be added as free updates after release.“

To overcome this final hurdle, the team is offering game copies,digital soundtrack, digital art book, and various character-themed original merchandise as rewards, inviting players to support the developers in bringing the game to completion.

To coincide with the Kickstarter campaign, Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade has also released a free demo on Steam. In the demo, players can experience the game as its three protagonists: Shigure, Sara, and Taketora. These characters are voiced by renowned Japanese voice actors Yoko Hikasa, Ayana Taketatsu, and Rikiya Koyama, respectively, with their voices featured during battles.
 

The v1.0 Demo offers a glimpse into the early stages of Yasha: Legends of the Demon Blade, featuring standard levels, two boss stages, a matsuri-themed rest area, the cycles of life and death, and sword forging. Along the way, players can collect items to alter the attributes of the Demon Blade, Dual Blades, and Bow, adding variety to the combat experience. This demo showcases the core gameplay mechanics and sets the stage for the adventure ahead.


According to the timeline outlined on the Kickstarter page, the story mode and additional combat stages are scheduled to be implemented in time for the Steam Next Fest in February 2025. Players will be able to experience these new features by downloading the updated version during the event.
