SAN FRANCISCO – August 1, 2024 – Kitsune Tails, the platformer styled after beloved classics and steeped in Japanese mythology developed by Kitsune Games (Kitsune Zero / Super Bernie World) and published by MidBoss™ (Read Only Memories: NEURODIVER), bestows the power of the fabled fox spirit to PC via Steam today! Console versions are in development for Q1 2025.

Guide young half-fox/half-human messenger Yuzu (voiced by Kira Buckland, the voice of NieR: Automata’s 2B) through worlds flowing with legendary Japanese folklore. As the herald of the god Inari, Yuzu must run, jump, and collect powerups in an experience that draws inspiration from the golden age of 8-bit platforming, replicating its feel but with modern quality-of-life features.

Become a snowfox, run on water wearing a shark onesie, and more to master an elemental wheel of options. Leap over hurdles of the heart in an LGBTQ+-themed story and help Yuzu rescue her imprisoned love interest Akko from magical captivity. Why did Yuzu’s childhood friend-turned-rival Kiri imprison her, anyway?

Play minigames uncovered throughout the world map, including a 3D maze adventure built in the same hand-crafted engine as Kitsune Tails. Expand on the experience by crafting your own levels with the free Tiled Map Editor, and create minigames using a simple but powerful Lua scripting system.

“Yuzu’s tale is so dear to our hearts,” said Eniko Fox, Founder, Kitsune Games. “We’re so excited to not only share with you all her story, but to see what the community creates in return. We see our community’s passion and want to foster that creativity with an accessible set of game-design tools. Kitsune Tails is just the start — we can’t wait to see where the community takes things from here.”

Kitsune Tails launches today on PC via Steam for $19.99 (R$39.99 in Brazil) with English language voiceover and English, Japanese, and Brazilian Portuguese language text, with Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and Xbox editions coming in Q1 2025.
