Kent, U.K. 26 Nov. UK fans of Train Sim World will be able to embark on one of the longest journeys possible in the game with the arrival of its next route Add-on. West Coast Main Line: Preston – Carlisle covers almost 100 miles of track between Preston and Carlisle, with Lancaster and the coastal Morecambe Branch Line also being included.
The journey encompasses the dramatic rural scenery seen through this part of the northwest, including the challenge of Shap Summit at 279m above sea level. Landmark buildings at Lancaster, Carlisle and Preston Station are full recreated as per their condition in the late 1980s, as is the M6 Motorway and the retro traffic seen driving along it such as at Tebay.
This route, developed by Partner Programme Developer Just Trains, harks back to a time of BR Blue and various locomotive hauled operations. Star of the route is the introduction of a new locomotive to the game: the Class 87, with other previously featured loco’s also being included in the Class 47, 08 and 101 DMU.
New carriages and wagons get hauled by a busy and varied timetable, allowing players to operate many different kinds of train from the era. Those with other compatible Add-ons in their collection can also add more classic diesels to the timetable like the Class 45 or steam locomotives like Flying Scotsman.
The route also has Conductor Mode, Fast Travel and Route Hopping functionality as part of Train Sim World 5’s core feature. Unique features to this route include the collectible mint cake and posters, fully modelled signal box interiors and improvements to the Class 101 DMU that include the latest in-game suspension physics.
