La Guide du jeu vidéo du Québec :

Montreal, QC – Sept 26, 2024 – La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, in partnership with XP Gaming Inc., is proud to announce the return of the Montreal International Game Summit (MIGS) for 2024, with a renewed focus on external development—a key driver of growth for the recovering global gaming industry. This year, MIGS will serve as a pivotal business event, highlighting the importance of collaboration between publishers, developers, and external developers.

This year, MIGS introduces the Game Caviar ExDev Lounge, a dedicated space for external developers to connect with major industry buyers, including 2K Games, Tencent, Riot Games, Microsoft, Sony PlayStation, and more. This presents service providers the opportunity to secure valuable partnerships and for buyers to drive their projects forward.

Jean-Jacques Hermans, Executive Director of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, underscores MIGS' importance: “The Quebec video game industry is not only recovering quickly from a post pandemic slow down but showing remarkable resilience with hundreds of job openings and new IP development projects announced.MIGS plays a strategic role in sustaining this recovery.'

Reports, such as DDM’s Games Investment Review, show that the global games industry is recovering and growing, with increased revenues and investments as studios adapt to new challenges. Griffin Gaming Partners highlights that rising development costs and the growing importance of live service models are driving studios to rely on external developers for faster, more efficient production.

Jason Lepine, Founder & CEO of XP Gaming, notes: “The global video game industry is projected to reach $187.7 billion in revenue for 2024, with external development estimated as $25-30 billion of that. It’s a growing market that allows studios to scale while offering service providers the stability of continual work.”

Emphasizing MIGS' critical role in Quebec's $1.4 billion gaming sector, the event has the full support of industry leaders such as Valnet, Red Barrels, Xsolla, Keywords Studios, Ubisoft, and Amazon Web Services (AWS).

“MIGS has always been a key event for service providers to connect with publishers, and this year we’re excited to expand these opportunities with the Game Caviar ExDev Lounge,” said James Kosur, Head of Marketing and Gaming at Valnet, the event’s Diamond supporter. "We’re thrilled to be part of this growing community of game developers and service providers. As a Montreal-based company, MIGS provides the perfect platform to connect with innovative developers and explore new opportunities within the industry."

MIGS 2024 Programming Highlights:

In addition to the Game Caviar ExDev Lounge, MIGS will feature sessions with key industry leaders:
