LONDON, UK, FEBRUARY 17th 2022. SUPERSTRING, a game studio dedicated to exploring new avenues of narrative games, has today announced that it’s ambitious narrative game ‘Acolyte’ will be launching on PC on May 26th, 2022.

Watch the in-world game trailer here.

Acolyte takes advantage of the Spirit AI Character Engine, allowing players to converse with their Acolyte in real time via a series of text exchanges. The full game combines non-linear storytelling with real-time notifications and wider ARG elements for a unique narrative experience that spills out of the game and into the real world.

An official selected title of London Games Festival 2021, Acolyte features writing and narrative design from George Lockett and Olivia Wood (Sunless Skies, Fallen London and Where the Water Tastes Like Wine), who have helped to shape the game’s branching story, weaving it together with bold ARG puzzles that take place outside of the game itself.

Inviting players into the fictional world of Nanomax – a well-funded tech start-up looking to bring its first commercial release to market – players will take on the role of a QA tester for the company, as they help Nanomax with testing as the Acolyte product nears release.

As players talk with their Acolyte, however, they’ll discover all’s not what it seems at Nanomax, and a wider conspiracy reveals itself.

Acolyte will launch on May 26th, 2022 and can be wishlisted on Steam now.
