Over 300,000 Demo Downloads! Language Decoding Horror for Women "Homicipher"

The much-anticipated language decoding, horror, and escape game hybrid "Homicipher", tailored for a female audience, will officially launch on Steam on November 1st, 2024.


This title, created by independent developer Yatsunagi, first gained attention in 2022 with its prototype, which became a popular topic among streamers and players alike.


The demo, released on Steam in 2023, continues to maintain a 99% positive rating on Steam, earning the title of "Overwhelmingly Positive" in reviews. It has also received high praise on other online platforms.
Currently, the demo has been downloaded 370,000 times across both Steam and BOOTH.
 

 

Players will take on the role of a young girl who has wandered into a strange world inhabited by supernatural beings, as she seeks to escape back to her original world. The beings communicate in their own unique language, and players must decipher their words by interpreting their expressions and gestures. As the language is gradually decoded, players will be able to communicate with these beings and advance the story. Accompanying the protagonist is a mysterious supernatural male character, and during their exploration together, players will encounter moments that will make their hearts race.

 
The game progresses through point-and-click exploration and conversations with the supernatural beings.
When mysterious words appear, players can click on the words and input their own interpretations of the text. There are a total of 200 words, which will be added to the player's dictionary. The goal is to fill in this dictionary and complete your own personalized version. Even if the interpretation is incorrect, the story will still progress, allowing players to create a unique dictionary.


Throughout the exploration and conversations, choices will appear at various points. These choices may branch the story in different directions, or even result in the player's death.


However, understanding the language may help avoid danger, and sometimes, making mistakes could provide hints for deciphering the language.
