Raleigh, North Carolina, October 1st, 2024 - Indie developer Reverting Castles is proud to unleash a playable demo for its upcoming blistering 2D pixel art action game Demon Crush. Available now on Steam, this demo, “Kenzo’s Fury” lets players try out the first level of Demon Crush, where they must master the art of the tonfa, staff, and kusari-gama as they slice, kick and leap their way through swathes of foes in feudal Japan!

Demon Crush casts you as Kenzo Yagimoto, the guardian warrior and the last hope of Gochima Village. As invading soldiers and demons look to crush the warrior's spirit for all time, Kenzo must fight beside his allies to drive them back. Battle warlords, beasts, magicians, and demons as you explore an ancient kingdom!

Master using multiple weapons in free-flowing combos. With your paired tonfa, staff, and kusari-gama mapped to different buttons, any move can link into any other, enabling you to create your own combos and personalize your playstyle. Get into the flow and adapt to combat situations as they unfold. Every martial arts technique has its own timing and affects your tactical positioning differently, so stay sharp! 

Like the best retro games, Demon Crush is designed to be replayed with a carefully crafted scoring system to rate your performance in each level. Maximize your score with deadly quickness and stylish combat techniques! Speedrunners and streamers will also get a kick out of Demon Crush’s optional in-game timer and controller status readouts to show off your skills!

If you’d like to support Demon Crush in its development, Reverting Castles has launched a Kickstarter campaign to ensure they have the resources to develop Demon Crush to its full potential on PC and consoles.

“Demon Crush is our love letter to retro classics like Ninja Gaiden and Shinobi, reimagined with modern technology and contemporary ideas,” said Game Director Richard Hinckley. “With this demo we wanted to prove that Demon Crush isn’t just a concept for a Kickstarter, but a playable product with a complex combat system already in place. The extra funding will be to help us hire a level designer and bring Demon Crush to all platforms.
