Bristol, UK – July 5, 2022 – Cook, serve, manage and expand your culinary kingdom in PlateUp!, an all-new chaotic cooking roguelite sizzling onto PC via Steam on August 4.

Cooked up by indie developer It’s Happening and published by Yogscast Games, PlateUp! is a 1-4 player frenetic feed ‘em up that combines chaotic kitchen and restaurant management with strategic planning and development to serve up a delightful roguelite unlike any other. Cook and serve your dishes, design and decorate your restaurants, and expand your culinary kingdom with new unlocks, abilities and dishes in procedurally-generated locations with permanent progression. Hire your friends for classic cooking action - or do it all yourself!

The object of each run is to manage your restaurant through chaotic 15 days and beyond, using money earned through preparing and serving dishes to expand and refine your establishment. Between days, you can upgrade your equipment, modify your menu and choose permanent perks which will affect every aspect of your restaurant. Can you successfully make it to the end of a run and take it to the next level in franchise mode?

GAME FEATURES:

COOK! Classic co-op cooking action, with a wide selection of mains, sides, sauces, toppings, desserts, and starters. Choose your equipment, lay out your kitchen, curate your menu and plate up your dishes.

SERVE! Equip your restaurant to handle the most fickle of customers and deliver them what they need, right when they need it. Look after front-of-house, seating customers, delivering orders, and managing their patience.

UPGRADE! Upgrade and rearrange your restaurant to your personal taste: when the restaurant closes for the day, the planning begins! Want to go high-tech? Install turbo-ovens, crank up the conveyors, and make way for the robo-kitchen of the future.

EXPAND! Co-operate with your team like a well-olive-oiled machine or build a name for yourself going it alone. Exceed your goals and take your franchise to greater heights at a new location, bringing with you new unlocks and upgrades.

“I created PlateUp! to feel like an altogether different experience to other games in the chaotic kitchen genre, and deliver a wholesome, co-op cooking roguelite that players of all different ages and abilities can enjoy together,” said Alastair Janse van Rensburg, It’s Happening. “I wanted each session to feel like you were progressing and building up your franchise, rather than just getting you a score and unlocking another level. I also wanted everyone to be able to find their own part, rather than everyone just cooking. After a series of positive public playtests on Steam and some great support from the burgeoning Discord community, I'm so excited to finally serve the game up to players early next month.”

PlateUp! feels like a natural evolution to the cooking genre, integrating deep roguelite mechanics and restaurant management with that familiar chaotic feel,” added Simon Byron, Director of Publishing at Yogscast Games. “I’m incredibly proud of the game Alastair has managed to cook up, and with PlateUp! already being on the radar of many players across Steam and Discord, I can’t wait for them to throw on their aprons and serve up a feast on August 4. Bon appétit!”

PlateUp! is available to add to your Steam Wishlist now. For more information, follow @YogscastGames on Twitter. The game will be available on August 4th for PC on Steam, with an SRP of £14.99 / $17.99 / €17.99.
