Rock It™ Games Partners Up with Digital Eclipse to Offer Physical Editions of Volgarr the Viking II for Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5

LONG BEACH, Calif. – Sept. 5, 2024 – Rock It™ Games, a game publisher focused exclusively on indie and retro games for both physical and digital releases, is happy to announce their partnership with acclaimed studio Digital Eclipse for the limited physical editions of the brutal hack-and-slash 2D action platformer Volgarr the Viking II on Nintendo Switch and PlayStation 5. Fans can pre-order the game from Sept. 3 through Oct. 7. 

The standard edition, priced at $34.99, will be a direct-to-consumer offering that includes the physical game, a detailed game manual, and a collectible map. For those seeking an even more immersive experience, the deluxe edition, priced at $49.99, will include everything in the standard edition plus the official Volgarr the Viking II epic soundtrack on CD.

To give fans a closer look at what’s in store, Rock It Games and Digital Eclipse will be hosting a special live stream today at 4:30pm PT / 7:30pm ET. Viewers can tune in to Rock It Games’ Twitch channel to see gameplay footage, hear from the developers, and get a first glimpse of what’s to come in the physical editions.

Developed by Digital Eclipse in partnership with Crazy Viking Studios, Volgarr the Viking II is a sequel 10 years in the making. The barbarian king Volgarr returns, a little older but no less ruthless. Featuring new and expansive worlds inspired by Norse mythology, players must slash, dash, and mash their way through waves of bloodthirsty enemies. Sporting the same unforgiving 1980s arcade style of challenge as the original, Volgarr the Viking II demands precision, as one false move leads to a brutal death. 

Players of the original game will feel right at home on this relentless voyage, while more modern gameplay features ease newer players into the savagery with a practice mode, optional checkpoints, save profiles, and unlimited continues. However, a secret world and boss await those who can master the game without these modern comforts.
