Animation Logic :

24th September 2024 – Canada-based indie developer Animation Logic is excited to announce its upcoming debut title, Viscera, on Steam for release in Q4 2024.

Stepping away from the mechanical density of modern shooters and bullet heaven games, Viscera is a no-nonsense twin-stick shooter inspired by the gleeful excess, refined lucidity, and fast-paced mayhem of games like DoomLeft 4 Dead, and Nuclear Throne. No crafting, no skill checks, and no dialogue trees: It’s just you and all the guns you can muster against the unending, unknowable mutant horde.

Viscera pairs a gritty, far-future aesthetic with an indulgent zeal for gore – blood splatters and streaks across the ground as bullets and bolts fling across the screen. Before long, your boots will be soaking as you weave between the nightmarish throng of creatures hellbent on your death.

Laser-focused on gameplay, Viscera prioritises build craft and raw spectacle over unnecessary distractions. Discover over 50 weapons from mainstays like machine guns, plasma rifles, and high-impact explosives to more esoteric choices like chopping off their limbs with the saw gun, spraying them with bullets that explode into other bullets, or reduce them to nothingness with the black hole generator!

Supplementing the astounding array of weaponry is the complex perk system featuring over 80 abilities. Embrace body modifications and implants or conjure bizarre powers to alter your perception of time, infect your enemies with a damaging toxin, or emit poison clouds to weaken their resolve.

Stay on your feet and never get complacent as guns, skills, and power-ups come and go thick and fast. You’ll need to constantly rethink your approach against the ravenous onslaught as each new item and ability you encounter asks just one question: how many hundreds will you manage to get with this? Viscera is single-minded but the flexibility and build variety will keep you coming back for more.

The Calgary-based Animation Logic is founded by Egor Semenikhin, a game industry veteran with over 17 years experience, including at Ubisoft and ZeniMax, working on Hitman (2016), PUBG, and Rainbow Six Mobile. “I love the single-minded directness of classic games. When you would pick up a controller or sit at your computer and become the one-man army against the world.

“I hope Viscera can reintroduce some of the pure magic of classic games. No cinematics, no story, just pure violence.”

Viscera will launch on PC via Steam in Q4 2024. For more information, contact Khai at [email protected].
