Kyiv, Ukraine – October 8, 2024. ByOwls has launched the first playable demo for Whispers of the Void, a story-driven VR adventure that takes players on a swashbuckling sci-fi journey across the galaxy.
Now live as part of Steam Next Fest, the demo showcases the first full mission of the game, introducing players to some of the key gameplay mechanics found in Whispers of the Void.
Players begin aboard a spaceship, navigating its controls to warp to a distant desert planet. Upon arrival, they will get a taste of the game’s fluid VR combat that blends gunfights and energy sword fencing, solve an ancient puzzle, scale a mountain, and face off against the game’s first boss — all with the help of their trusty alien frog companion.
The Whispers of the Void demo is available now on Steam for free, offering 30-60 minutes of gameplay.

In Whispers of the Void, players take on the role of a relic hunter — a rare breed of adventurers brave enough to venture into the farthest corners of the universe. What starts as a simple favor to retrieve an artifact for an old friend soon spirals into a galactic conspiracy spanning centuries.
Whispers of the Void is a rip-roaring journey across the galaxy that combines space travel, puzzles in hostile environments, gunfights, and energy sword duels, all wrapped in a gripping sci-fi narrative. Players find themselves in a race against the clock for control over Edem, the most powerful substance in the universe. A cause of at least one planetary implosion, Edem offers a key to the puzzle that could stitch the galaxy back together — or tear it apart.
Armed only with your ship and your wits, it’s up to you to stop the collapse of civilization. The fate of the galaxy rests in your hands!
