Amenti Studio is thrilled to announce a significant update to the Glyph Perk System in our upcoming rogue-lite RPG, The Book of Aaru. Prepare to delve even deeper into the world of Glyphs with a revamped perk system featuring improved visuals and enhanced descriptions.
What’s new?
Each Glyph now has its own unique icon that matches its specific ability.
Hand-designed icons are made to be easily recognizable.
Icons more closely represent the category and purpose of each upgrade.
How does our perk system work?
Application categorizes Glyphs into five types:
Are you an offensive powerhouse? Unleash devastating attacks with Offensive Glyphs.
Prefer a defensive stance? Defensive Glyphs provide protective bonuses, such as reducing damage received from dangerous traps scattered throughout the depths of Aaru.
Want a versatile arsenal? Utility Glyphs offer a wide array of abilities, from combat rewards after successful parries to lightning attacks jumping between enemies activated by well performed combos.
Looking to strike it rich? Increase your chances of finding valuable treasures or larger quantities of them or gain a chance to receive bonus rewards for your spent currency with Riches Glyphs!
Ready to bend time to your will? Time Altering Glyphs enhance your ability to Bend Time, for example enabling you to unleash a powerful shockwave when this unique ability is activated.
Risk divides Glyphs into three tiers, but remember, every choice comes with a downfall. Stat-based Glyphs offer subtle enhancements, while Gameplay Altering Glyphs unlock new abilities or evolve existing ones. Dare to take higher risk? Two-edged Glyphs provide powerful benefits but also come with drawbacks.
Stat-based: These Glyphs provide passive, low-risk enhancements, subtly boosting your abilities in the background - like increasing your chance to deal critical damage or heighten your stamina recovery.
Gameplay altering: These Glyphs unlock new abilities or evolve existing ones. As a result, they carry a moderate risk as your skill level will determine how effectively you can harness these enhancements.
Two-edged: These Glyphs offer high-risk, high-reward perks. They significantly boost your character in one aspect but also make you weaker in another. For example, with a curse of Seth your attacks will gain immense power, but you'll need to engage in constant combat or you start losing your health.
Choose wisely and tailor your Glyph loadout to fit your playstyle!

About Amenti Studio
Amenti Studio began as a small startup in 2021 with one investor and one developer. They immediately embarked on an ambitious project to create an A-AA roguelite game. After some planning and learning, the project, titled The Book of Aaru, was initiated in 2022 with a team of four. Since then, Amenti Studio has occasionally hired part-time workers to assist with sound, UI, and other tasks. Although these part-time workers are not part of the core team, they are considered a stable and integral part of the studio.
