[August 28, 2024]—Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus, the Japanese folklore-inspired Metroidvania from Squid Shock Studios, released its first patches for consoles today, following the game’s launch. The fixes include major bugs and simple glitches across PlayStation, Xbox, and Switch, bringing the versions in sync with the PC version.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus puts players in control of Bō, a fox spirit born from a celestial blossom in the heavens, on a quest to fulfill an ancient prophecy. Players unlock staff transformations throughout their adventure, unlocking new powerful abilities for both combat and traversal.

Players engage with a larger-than-life cast of bizarre and adorable yokai (supernatural spirits from Japanese folklore) and other original characters inspired by Japanese myth, all brought to life with traditional hand-drawn 2D frame-by-frame animation. Help them with their side quests—or just stop by a cup of tea.

One unique feature of Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is the ability to summon powerful allies in combat, known as daruma, which can be upgraded throughout the game. Following its launch,  Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus received largely positive reviews, with critics praising its art direction, combat, and exploration.

"My team and I have been working extremely hard since launch to listen to player feedback and improve the overall experience of Bō in many ways. We are truly grateful for our players' patience during this time and look forward to making continuous improvements over time, now that our backend access has been restored. Working with the new team at Humble we are looking forward to what is coming up for the game," said Chris Stair, Art and Design Director of developer Squid Shock Studios.

Bō: Path of the Teal Lotus is available now on Steam, Playstation 5, Xbox Series X, and Nintendo Switch.
