Newton, Mass. - October 26, 2004 - WorldWinner, Inc. (www.worldwinner.com), the leader in online game competitions, today unveiled Haunted Mine, an arcade-style game. The newest addition to WorldWinner's catalog of games tests players' ability to navigate through the depths of a ghost-ridden mine, collecting hidden treasures along the way. Haunted Mine is the latest creation from WorldWinner's Principal Game Designer Steve Meretzky, who was named one of PC Gamer magazine's "Game Gods" and is credited with creating classics including Planetfall and Spellcasting 101.
In Haunted Mine, players score points by helping Miner Max collect jewels and gold coins, while eluding a menacing ghost. Facing dead ends and broken tracks, players click and drag icons from a moving conveyor belt to manipulate the tracks in an effort to find their way to safety. Reaching the exit sign introduces the player to a new level, a new stash of treasures, and the reincarnation of the angry ghost.
"We created Haunted Mine as an exciting complement to WorldWinner's broad variety of classic games that have been popular in the offline world for decades," said Stephen Killeen, president and CEO of WorldWinner. "Similar to all of our games, Haunted Mine offers players the ability to compete in tournaments where those who demonstrate the most speed, logic and agility win cash and prizes, not to mention bragging rights. Now players have the option to test their skills in a hand of solitaire, a game of 8-ball pool, or a run through the Haunted Mine."
WorldWinner relies on a combination of in-house game development and licensing from leading game publishers, such as FreshGames® and Skyworks®, to deliver games that continually entertain in a format that fuels players' competitive drive. This dual strategy allows WorldWinner to offer its 12 million registered players a variety of the most popular online favorites as well as fresh, new games not available anywhere else.
