September 24th 2024 – US-based indie developer Arcaneworks is excited to announce the launch of the debut title, The Puzzle Maker: Cebba’s Odyssey, on Steam today on September 24th, with a mobile release in 2025.

The Puzzle Maker: Cebba's Odyssey is a fantasy puzzle game inspired by the strategy and retro aesthetic of classic games such as Advance Wars and Fire Emblem. Call on the unique skills of your heroes to complete over 200 puzzles – best described as single-turn Into the Breach levels.

The enigmatic Puzzle Maker, Cebba, has long sought a successor to the title. But in her rigorous zeal, all but one of her protégés have fallen to her devious challenges. You are her last and most promising student, but to truly succeed Cebba and inherit the title, you'll need to glean not only her true motiviation but also the secrets behind her reign.

Each puzzle is solved by carefully defeating every monster on a 14-by-14 tile grid in one turn. You’ll lead your band of warriors and spellcasters to strike, maneuver, or manipulate enemies – ranging from orcs and goblins to ogres and carnivorous plants – to defeat them in a single sequence.

You’ll need to call on all of your cunning to use each unit and environmental hazards efficiently, and maybe even the monsters’ skills against themselves. Want to push an orc down a pit but can’t reach? Shove them in the way of a three-armed tri-clops and watch them fly. Or use the mind-control trickery of the fae to goad your opponents into flinging themselves in.

The Puzzle Maker: Cebba’s Odyssey is the debut title of Arcaneworks, an indie studio founded by Matt Haddow and Parker Crane. The pair came together to share their experience in broadcast production with an unrestrained love of video games.

Haddow said: “We wanted to take the most vital lessons from our experience in broadcasting and other creative industries, and bring them to enhance what we can do with games. Developing The Puzzle Maker has been a uniquely satisfying challenge, and we couldn’t be prouder of what the team have created together. We hope you love The Puzzle Maker as much as we do!”
