Newsbrief: Autodesk announced today that it will cease updating its 3D modeling and animation utility Softimage after April 2014. It will cease selling standalone licenses for the product later this month, on March 28. The final version of the software, Autodesk Softimage 2015, will reportedly ship around April 14. The company will continue to offer support for the utility and will also continue to fulfill all obligations to Autodesk Subscription customers who use Softimage (technical support, bug fixes, etc.) through the end of April 2016. If you do have a subscription to Softimage, you may be eligible to migrate your subscription to either Autodesk 3ds Max or Autodesk Maya. The company is going to offer a live Q&A webinar on the topic on Monday, March 17 -- you can register for it on Autodesk's website.
