Newsbrief: Codice Software has released Plastic SCM 4.0, its software change and configuration management (SCM) solution for game developers, designed in collaboration with Digital Legends Entertainment. Plastic SCM 4.0 offers version control, branching, and merging technologies that are designed to embrace agile methods and parallel development, without locking developers into branching patterns or specific formats. The solution is meant to eliminate "product release freeze." It can also include coders, artists, and designers on the same SCM, accommodating large binaries and projects with exclusive checkout/archiving. Its distributed and centralized repositories enable distant team members to work together with a distributed version control system, too. Digital Legends Entertainment, which released iOS game Kroll and previously selected Plastic SCM for its projects in 2010, worked with Codice to create Plastic SCM 4.0. You can see read more about Plastic SCM 4.0's 100+ features on its official site.
