Scaleform announced that it will be adding a number of new features to its Scaleform GFx 4.0 middleware designed specifically for iOS and Android development. The list of new features includes support for multi-threaded rendering and multi-touch, as well as stereoscopic 3D rendering for devices that include 3D technology. Along with these new features, the company said it will be releasing a mobile development kit to provide developers an "out-of-the-box starting point when developing mobile applications." The new features for Scaleform GFx 4.0 will be on display publicly at the Mobile World Congress, which will be held in Barcelona, Spain from February 14-17. The most recent edition of Scaleform GFX, 4.0 supports Flash 10 and ActionScript 3.0 and claims a two- to five-fold performance boost over previous GFx iterations. Over the last several months, the company has been taking steps to expand its business, adding support for 3D menus with games using GFx, and establishing integration with Epic Games' Unreal Engine 3. In 2010 the company experienced notable growth in Asian territories, namely South Korea.
