Unity engine creator Unity Technologies recognized some of the top games being created with the engine at a recent ceremony, with honors going to AirAttack HD, Colorblind and others. At the 2010 Unity Awards, part of this week's Unite developer conference, the company honored the following titles that use the Unity Engine: -Grand Prix: AirAttack HD by Art In Games -Best Gameplay: Colorbind by Nonverbal -Best Visual Design: The Uncanny Fish Hunt by Uncanny Games -Best Mobile Game: Rimelands : Hammer of Thor by Dicework Games -Best Non-game: LoveMyHome by ILP The company also acknowledged "rising stars" of small-team Unity development: Uncanny Fish Hunt from Uncanny Games, Pirates of New Horizons from Exit Strategy Entertainment and Crowned by Gregor Falk. The Unity Awards had "hundreds" of entries this year, said Unity CCO Nicholas Francis. The games were judged by members of the Unity team plus past winners of Unity Awards. The engine company is seeing explosive growth, according to CEO David Helgason. He said this week at the Montreal-based Unite conference that in the last year, the engine's adoption has increased 20 times -- from 13,000 to 260,000 developers. Unity recently launched the latest version of the engine, Unity 3. The engine has also powered more than 17 top 10 games on the iOS platform. The first Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 Unity games are slated to launch early next year to join Wii, mobile and web implementations.
