Newsbrief: The International Animated Film Society has selected Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet for its "Best Animated Video Game" award, as part of the Annie Awards honoring outstanding animation across various media. Finalists for the video game category included Insomniac Games' Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One, Ubisoft Montpellier's Rayman Origins, Naughty Dog's Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception, Konami's Gesundheit, and Epic Games' Gears of War 3. Handheld/mobile releases like Capcom's Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective and Simogo's Bumpy Road were also nominated by a committee of animation professionals appointed by the board of directors of IFSA, the organizer behind the Annie Awards. Released to Xbox Live Arcade and Windows last August, Insanely Twisted Shadow Planet was published by Microsoft Studios and developed by Shadow Planet Productions. Noted animator Michel Gagne (The Iron Glant) was the designer for the 2D, exploration-based shooter. The full list of winners and nominees for all of the categories at the 39th annual Annie Awards is available here.
