3D animation plug-in developer Craft Animations announced a partnership with GameCaster to make Craft Camera Tools, a suite of 3D animation plug-ins for Autodesk Maya, compatible with Gamecaster's GCS3 virtual camera control technology in fall 2008. GCS3 virtual camera control is designed to be a replica of a real-world video camera that captures virtual worlds, enabling camera operators to use the same real-world skills and methods of controlling a camera, such as panning, tilting, trucking, craning, and zooming, in a virtual environment. Gamecaster says that the GCS3 "enhances the production process of 3D animation" by enabling digital layout artists to produce cinematic live action-style shots in real-time with the same "precision and fluidity" often found with real cameras. Craft Animations is developing a tailored GCS3 pre-rigged camera system which will tell Craft Camera Tools how to arrange, represent and configure its set of plug-ins as one single plug-in, with its own customized interface for GCS3 users.
