UI Artist - Mobile GamesBig Fish Games

Location: Seattle, WA

Our internal game studio in Seattle is looking for an awesome UI artist/designer to join our team. If you want to reach millions of players around the world with great user experiences then this is the job for you! You will be working closely with Game Design, UX Design and Art to craft the best mobile interfaces in the industry. You’ll be creating visually appealing, game ready UI in a variety of styles while working with a dynamite team. You should come prepared with industry experience in mobile game UI design and a strong understanding of free-to-play best practices as they relate to interface design.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work closely and collaborate with Game Design, UX Design and the Art Director to iterate on user flows

  • Explore a variety of UI styles to find what is right for the game providing various solutions that support the brand

  • Working closely with UX, build interactive prototypes on the device to test and iterate on your designs

  • Implement UI art directly in engine (e.g. Unity/Cocos)

  • Conceptualize, design, and implement UI guided by an understanding of current trends and best practices

  • Create flexible interface designs to evolve with the needs of a live game

  • Create strong, cohesive UI style guides outlining stylistic consistency and usage rules

  • Maintain asset libraries and texture atlases with a high level of proficiency and organization

  • Create ancillary graphic design work including branding/logos, typography, and marketing materials

  • Mentor others in your awesome skills. Constructively give and receive feedback

Skills, experience and educational requirements: 

  • 3+ years of experience producing high quality graphics and intuitive, clean UI's

  • Ideally will have shipped game products or other related mobile products

  • Familiarity with a live data driven game environment- ( e.g. Rapid iteration and frequent testing)

  • A Bachelor's degree in Interactive Design, Graphic Design, or a related field

  • Able to make fantastic UI art in a range of styles (e.g. realistic, stylized, casual, mid-core)

  • Mastery of Adobe Photoshop- Proficiency in other Adobe Creative Suite software

  • Proficiency in mobile game editors and their corresponding UI tools (e.g. CocoStudio and Unity)

  • Strong knowledge of mobile usability demonstrated by recent game development work

  • Ability to produce and translate ideas into clean mockups for implementation

  • Possess a strong understanding of merchandising and messaging best practices in mobile games

  • Strong sense of initiative & motivated self-starter

  • Able to effectively and quickly build relationships and establish trust among team members and peers

  • Receive and give feedback in a motivated and invested way focused on what is best for the product

  • Sense of humor, passion for your work, and desire to grow yourself and those around you

Nice to have:

  • Avid gamer and mobile app enthusiast

  • Experience with CCG/ RPG style games a plus!

  • Experience in social game production, game merchandising and messaging

  • Experience in SCRUM/Agile production methodologies
