Artist, Shiny Shoe

Location: San Francisco, CA

Shiny Shoe is seeking a multi-talented, self-motivated artist to join our studio! You’ll be the second artist on the team and have the opportunity to work in many areas on a wide variety of projects. Some of our recent projects include Day of the Tentacle Remastered, The Banner Saga, and Game of Thrones.

Candidates should have strong 2d fundamentals and a good understanding of 3d modeling, texturing, and the technical side of art pipelines. We’re looking for a generalist who can contribute in multiple areas across multiple platforms.

We do both original game development and client work. You will be expected to be able to deliver high quality assets that meet the art direction requirements of a variety of projects with different styles. As a small studio, every member of the team has the opportunity to make a significant impact on the end result of our games.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years experience building games in a professional environment.

  • Experienced in Maya. Zbrush and Max are a plus.

  • Clear understanding of the 3d art pipelines used in games. You know how art assets are built, how they get exported, and how they impact a game engine.

  • Flexibility in areas of work. You are willing and able to quickly learn new things and execute on many facets of game development.

  • Technically minded. You have an understanding of shaders and the technical matters in asset pipelines.

  • Asset management and good digital housekeeping skills.

Responsibilities

  • Own significant areas of art production on our games.

  • Collaborate with designers, programmers, and other artists to build compelling experiences.

  • Contribute creatively to our projects.

  • Desired Experience

  • UI development experience.

  • Scripting experience.

  • Basic Rigging and Animation experience.

 Founded in 2011, Shiny Shoe develops games for mobile, console, and PC platforms. We strive to work on creative projects and on the types of games the team finds compelling. Trying to do things no one else has tried before is what gets us out of bed in the morning.

We are located a block away from Union Square in San Francisco, CA. Our office is near BART, MUNI, bus lines, and Caltrain for easy access.
