Have you ever wondered what'd happen if you tried to cram a Game Boy Color cartridge into an original Game Boy?

Both classic handhelds shared more than a few technical and aesthetic similarities, and the Game Boy Color was even backwards compatible, so you'd probably be forgiven for thinking you could shove any old game pak into any old console.

Of course, you'd be wrong. Although Game Boy Colour cartridges did slot into the Game Boy with conspicuous ease, they weren't actually meant to be booted up on the monochromatic handheld -- the clue is in the name, after all.

To help clarify matters, developers started leaving some rather creative error messages for bemused players.

Many of those curious creations had faded into obscurity, but the good folks over at VGMuseum.com have just finished up archiving a huge chunk them in the name of video game preservation.

We've posted a few below, but you can sift through the lot right here.
