Animation middleware provider NaturalMotion has announced that Total Immersion Software has licensed the Morpheme engine to handle animation for Total Immersion's RealWorld software. Total Immersion develops RealWorld as a simulation platform contracted by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), an agency of the United States Department of Defense, for use in the virtual training of military, rescue, and disaster aid personnel. Executives from Total Immersion and NaturalMotion cited the need for highly-simulated realism as the primary reason for the decision to license Morpheme. Said Total Immersion CEO Pete Bonanni, “By adding the performance and power of the Morpheme animation run-time and the ease of its authoring component to RealWorld, we will be able to deliver a more true to life experience. With the ability to easily create realistic human characters, we will be able to enhance our overall product.”
