Procedural texturing middleware dveloper Allegorithmic has announced that MMO developer NCsoft Europe has chosen its ProFX solution for MMOs it is creating for both the PC and PlayStation 3. The tool, which also produces texture data "500 to 1000 times smaller" than comparable textures produced through other means, offers flexible licensing depending on size and scope of the project involved, ranging from small casual games to MMOs. ProFX has also entered into Epic Games' Partner Program for Unreal Engine 3 as well as being integrated into Microsoft's XNA tool suite. Most recently, WhiteMoon Dreams, the independent studio recently founded by former Medal of Honor and Fallout developers announced it would be using ProFX to create assets for a forthcoming Xbox Live Arcade title. Said NCsoft Europe product development head Jay Scott, “The Allegorithmic team has been excellent to work with, very responsive to our specific game and platform needs. The reduced footprint that ProFX affords us will give users a better game experience by vastly decreasing client size and reducing update download times.”
