The 4th Annual UK Schools Computer Animation Competition, a contest open to UK students between the ages of 7 and 19, is now accepting digital animation entries through April 1st, 2011. The non-profit and free-to-enter Animation11 contest, sponsored by The University of Manchester, encourages young students to become interested in the fields of computer science and information and communication technologies. Students may submit animations up to a minute long using the Alice, Scratch, Flash, or Serif DrawPlus applications. Prizes, including notebook PCs, digital cameras, and Amazon gift certificates, are awarded for the best entries in four age categories, for both individual and group entries. Last year's competition received more than 1,300 entries from over 200 UK schools. Animation11 winners will be notified on May 9th, followed by a ceremony at the Animation Festival and Inspirational Computer Science Day at Manchester on July 1st. Students may submit contest entries at Animation11's website.
