Released earlier this year, Videocult's survival platformer Rain World -- and in particular, its heroic slugcat protagonist -- is a standout example of procedural animation done well.

If you're curious to learn more about how it was done, we've got good news: at the GDC 2016 Animation Bootcamp, Rain World animators Joar Jakobsson and James Therrien stepped onstage to present a detailed breakdown the animation process behind the visually arresting game.

It was a fantastic talk that offered attendees an approachable, insightful overview of what's great (and tough) about implementing procedural animation in games. If you missed it in person last year, don't miss your chance to now watch it for free over on the official GDC YouTube channel!
