Don't forget: online registration for next week's inaugural GDC Next and App Developers Conference in L.A. ends on Thursday, October 31st. Attendees can save up to $200 off admission to one or both events if registered before the deadline. GDC Next will take place alongside the App Developers Conference on November 5th-7th, 2013 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. GDC Next aims to highlight the future of video game development, with session tracks organized around 'Next Generation Game Platforms', 'Free To Play & New Business Models', and 'Smartphone & Tablet Games', as well as cloud and indie game tracks. The brand new App Developers Conference (ADC) offers professionals a venue to share their knowledge about building, designing, marketing, and selling their apps. The future is paved with new technology, and GDC Next has several demos and talks on the newest and hottest hardware, including free-to-play on PS4, Xbox One and Kinect, ex-Valve devs Jeri Ellsworth and Rick Johnson demoing their CastAR augmented reality headset on the expo floor, and more. As part of the Future of Gaming track, Kate Flack will speak on toy industry insights she brought to Ultima Forever and Ubisoft Blue Byte's Teut Weidemann will discuss why mobile is everything. eSports are also taking off, and GDC Next will feature several talks from Riot, Turtle Entertainment, Twitch, and Day[9] on the future of that industry sector. GDC Next's focus on the future of games will also include a series of lectures on ten innovative, yet-to-debut games called the GDC Next 10. This year's GDC Next 10 inductees are Daniel Benmergui's Storyteller, Hidetaka "SWERY" Suehiro's D4, Capy Games's Super T.I.M.E. Force, Team Dakota's Project Spark, Double Fine's Broken Age, The Odd Gentlemen's Wayward Manor, HumaNature Studios's Doki-Doki Universe, Obsidian's Project Eternity, Dynamighty's CounterSpy, and Grand Cru's Supernauts. Additionally, the spirit of GDC Online lives on in talks on F2P lessons from Neverwinter and Diner Dash, cloud gaming and crowdfunding with Star Citizen, microtransactions and subscriptions from Playdom, and new user experience and retention from KIXEYE and Workshop Entertainment. The Expo Floor will feature exhibits from Google, Sony, Microsoft, Samsung, Intel, Qualcomm, Pandora, Technical Illusions, and other major game and app industry players. The Videogame History Museum will also be presenting a special exhibit called the Museum of Portable Devices, showing the Newton, early Palm products, as well as presenting arcade machines and its classic '80s 'living room' setup. Anyone with a GDC Next, ADC, or Expo Pass will be able to attend the sponsored sessions by GREE, Tencent, Intel, Google, and many others at the GDC Next and ADC Expo Floor theater, too. Be sure to check out the GDC Next Session Scheduler to see the other announced talks and begin your planning. Online registration ends Thursday 31st at midnight for GDC Next and the co-located ADC; register now and save up to $200 on ADC, GDC Next, or a combined VIP All Access Pass. Also, check out ADC's focus on Education Apps: EA founder Trip Hawkins on his new learning service, Animoca on complying with new online privacy rules, and Dreamkind on standing toe-to-toe with Elmo and other powerful kids' brands. Gamasutra, ADC, and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Tech.
