Game Developers Conference Europe 2014 organizers have opened up a special call for European developers to submit to the first ever European Innovative Games Showcase at the show. Taking place during the Independent Games Summit at the Cologne, Germany show this August, the winning creators will be offered 5-minute microtalks at the final session of GDC Europe's IGS, showcasing what's special about their current project. Anyone who successfully submits will also be given full Speaker Passes to the event (including full access to every GDC Europe session and the massive gamescom trade/public event) if selected. In addition, detailed video of the event will be showcased on Gamasutra and GDC Vault for free after the event. Co-ordinating and MC-ing the showcase and helping pick the winners will be game designer Jonatan Van Hove, working alongside IGS' European advisors (Amnesia's Thomas Grip & Copenhagen Game Collective's Lau Korsgaard), IndieGames.com's John Polson, and further judges to be announced in the near future. Overall, the showcase will be curated to include a wide variety of innovative or experimental games, including diverse and new ways to showcase gameplay, art style, play style or anything in between. Organizers are looking specifically for European-resident creators to showcase in this local show. Entries are open until Friday, June 6th. The European Innovative Games Showcase - which is open to all pass-holders at the show - joins a host of sessions that will be announced for GDC Europe 2014 in the coming weeks, and early birds can register by July 16 to save 200 euros on an All Access Pass. Organized by UBM Tech Game Network, GDC Europe, now in its sixth year in Germany, will run Monday through Wednesday, August 11-13 at the Congress-Centrum Ost in Cologne, Germany, co-located with Europe's biggest video game trade and public show gamescom. Gamasutra and GDC are sibling organizations under parent UBM Tech
