Developers, lend us your ears: Game Developers Conference 2015 officials are excited to highlight another great set of sessions incorporated into the Audio track of talks that you'll want to keep on your radar.
While you're at GDC, don't miss a cutting-edge talk from three high-profile members of Monolith Productions' audio team on the audio techniques at work in Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor (pictured): "Confronting our 'Audio Nemesis' in Shadow of Mordor: Maximizing Emotional Resonance in an Open World Environment."
In this talk, members of Monolith will discuss the technical hurdles they encountered in transitioning from the first-person genre to an open world sandbox environment, as well as some of the audio successes they achieved by using previous experience crafting engaging, atmospheric soundscapes for first-person games like No One Lives Forever, F.E.A.R. and Condemned to strengthen emotional impact.
Also, four developers who served as part of Blizzard Entertainment's Diablo III audio squad will be delivering an insightful GDC 2015 talk on the game's sound design. "Soundtracking Hell - The Music of Diablo III: Reaper of Souls" promises to be an engaging panel discussion of the strategies and challenges Blizzard faced while creating the game's distinctive score, which incorporates large symphony orchestra and choir pieces recorded at Abbey Road Studios, Windmill Lane in Europe and Segerstrom Hall in Southern California.
Audio nerds shouldn't miss it, and there's a slew of other great talks available for your perusal the online GDC 2015 Session Scheduler. There you can begin to build your conference week and later export it to the up-to-the-minute GDC Mobile App, coming soon.
Also, conference officials look forward to announcing more GDC 2015 sessions spanning a diverse array of game industry issues in the months ahead.
For now, don't miss the opportunity to save money by registering early -- the deadline to register for passes at a discounted rate is this week, January 21, 2015. GDC 2015 itself will take place March 2-6 at the Moscone Center in San Francisco.
