In an effort to directly foster its relationship with creators, Oculus VR said today it would host a new developer-centric event this year. Oculus Connect 2014 takes place September 19 and 20 at the Loews Hollywood Hotel in L.A. VR remains a hot topic in video games, and Oculus is at the center of the hype. The company was acquired by Facebook in March for $2 billion. Oculus Connect is open to the public, though it will be developer-centric, and have limited attendance, according to Oculus. "Attendees will be the first to learn about upcoming Oculus technology, with sessions and workshops led by Oculus engineers and industry pioneers," Oculus said in a blog post. The event will also have hands-on labs where attendees can consult with the Oculus team. Keynotes will feature founder Palmer Luckey, CEO Brendan Iribe, CTO John Carmack, and chief scientist Michael Abrash, with more sessions to be announced. Keynotes will be livestreamed. Registration is open on July 10, at the event's official website.
