California-based recording engineering school Pinnacle College announced that it is now offering an accredited Occupational Associate Degree in the field of video game audio. The college claims that the degree is the first offering of its kind in the United States. Pinnacle's Audio for Games and Interactive Media program is a comprehensive 16-month degree plan that prepares students for audio-related careers in the games industry. The program covers multiple aspects of game audio, including music composition, sound design, dialog recording, audio asset management, and sound mixing. A panel of game industry professionals oversees the planning and implementation of the Audio for Games and Interactive Media program. Advisory board members include Sony Computer Entertainment America sound design manager Ken Felton, THQ music director Victor Rodriguez, and Video Games Live creator and producer Tommy Tallarico. "Pinnacle College's recording engineer graduates have gone on to work with the world's hottest musical acts and studios. We applied the same rigor and focus to our new game audio program," said Pinnacle College president Sal Younis. "We are committed to offering students the most relevant, engaging, and comprehensive education that will prepare them for successful careers in the high demand, interactive entertainment industry." The inaugural program begins with an open house event at Pinnacle College's campus in Alhambra, California, on Saturday, September 26th. Game audio classes at Pinnacle College begin on October 12th.
