Audio solution provider Audiokinetic has announced that Viva Pinata and Banjo Kazooie developer Rare is using Audiokinetic's Wwise audio suite in the development of several upcoming titles. Wwise is a suite of software designed to provide a complete solution to audio pipelines in game development, supporting "every phase of audio development," according to Audiokinetic's webpage. Audiokinetic notes that in the past Rare has used its own proprietary audio solution for titles like Conker's Bad Fur Day, GoldenEye 007, Perfect Dark, Banjo-Kazooie, and Donkey Kong 64, but after evaluating the product decided to switch to Wwise. No specific titles using the solution were named in the release. Said head of music Robin Beanland, “Wwise offers an unmatched feature set, yet it is still a very intuitive solution. Day after day, we realize that Wwise has got absolutely everything we need: real-time auditioning, advanced profiling capabilities, a comprehensive interactive music feature set, etc. It’s all there and totally straight forward.”
