George Drettakis is the group leader of the REVES (REndering and Virtual Environments with Sound) research group at INRIA Sophia-Antipolis, France. Before starting this group, he was a permanent researcher at the IMAGIS/GRAVIR-INRIA research group in Grenoble from 1995-2000. He was an ERCIM postdoc from 1994-1995, at IMAGIS, the UPC in Barcelona and GMD in Germany. He received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. at the University of Toronto in Canada, and his Ptychion (B.Sc.) from the University of Crete, Greece. His current research work is on shadows, lighting, relighting, reconstruction from images and interactive rendering. He has co-chaired the Eurographics (EG) 2002 Conference and the EG 1998 Workshop on Rendering. He has led or participated in EU-financed research projects SIMULGEN, ARCADE and CREATE, while at IMAGIS and REVES.
