Pasadena-based startup [a]list Games has received an additional $9.3 million in funding from parent company Ayzenberg Group to continue its efforts to help under-the-radar games get discovered. The new money comes on top of seed funding provided by Ayzenberg Group CEO Eric Ayzenberg when the marketing firm was launched in February. Rather than offering funding or traditional publishing services, [a]list creates and funds marketing plans for little-known digital games struggling to find and audience, in exchange for a share of royalties in that game or a flat fee. "We can give you access to marketing resources and expertise you simply will not have without shelling out your own money or selling out to a bigger game company," the company writes on its web site. "That includes commitments to investing in paid media campaigns and large-scale incentive programs." [a]list's clients include GamersFirst's crime-based MMO APB Reloaded, for which A List created a big budget, live-action YouTube trailer showing regular people transforming into gangsters. Members of the [a]list advisory board include former key Xbox executive Ed Fries, Smith & Tinker's Jordan Weisman, Big Screen Gaming's Alyssa Padia Walles, Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, Meteor Solutions' Ben Straley, EEDAR's Greg Short and DFC analyst David Cole.
