Industry veteran and The Incredible Machine co-creator Jeff Tunnell has set up Spotkin, a new mobile game production company in Eugene, Oregon that will begin releasing titles this spring. Spotkin is working with small studios to create mobile games for new IPs. The developer is described as "a production company for the modern video game industry, keeping a small, agile team that creates innovative games in emerging marketplaces." Tunnell formed Spotkin with Timothy Aste, who was previously an art director and producer at two other companies Tunnell previously co-founded, Torque engine and game developer GarageGames, and online/social game maker PushButton Labs. Tunnell is best known for his work as producer on 1992's seminal emergent game The Incredible Machine. He's worked on more than 75 games over the last 30 years, like Tribes, Marble Blast, Trophy Bass, and Social City. Spotkin has already secured funding for its first round of titles, which include Quick Shooter, Mighty Knights, and Outworld Marines. It plans to show off its first iOS and Android game behind closed doors at next week's Game Developers Conference.
