Opinion: How will Project 2025 impact game developers?
The Heritage Foundation's manifesto for the possible next administration could do great harm to many, including large portions of the game development community.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf continues to lead on Nintendo 3DS, netting over 6 million units over its lifetime. It will likely only be outstripped by the recently released Pokemon X & Y.
Animal Crossing: New Leaf has blown fellow first-party Nintendo 3DS titles out of the water, moving 6.35 million units worldwide since its launch in Japan in November 2012. The figure comes from supplementary information [PDF] included in Nintendo's most recent earnings call, which also indicates that one third of that total (or just over 2 million units) comes from outside Japan -- which only serves to highlight the kind of global appeal the game has garnered. Trailing behind New Leaf among first-party lifetime sales were Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon (3.13 million globally), Tomodachi Collection (1.63 million), Mario & Luigi: Dream Team (1.37 million) and Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D (1.19). It should be noted that these rankings do not include the recently released Pokemon X & Y, which Nintendo reports moved over 4 million units within two days of its worldwide release on October 12th.
