The open beta for DICE's WW1 shooter Battlefield 1 has become the biggest in publisher EA's history, attracting 13.2 million players in just over a week.

It breaks the previous record set by the Star Wars Battlefront beta -- another DICE concoction -- which pulled in 9 million players last October.

Battlefield 1 didn't just beat internal records, but also those set by the likes of Overwatch, which has the honor of being the largest beta in Blizzard's history with 9.7 million players.

For more context, Ubisoft's The Division beta brought in 6.4 million players earlier this year, making it the biggest beta for a new IP on current gen platforms.
